Synopsis

This compilation brings together extended abstracts of the presentations, posters, and panels shared at the First Conference on Indigenous Geographies in Argentina: “Approaches, Perspectives, and Activism,” held in Córdoba on August 15 and 16, 2024. This event arose from the recognition that there is a growing political and territorial mobilization of indigenous, aboriginal, and native groups, peoples, and communities in Latin America or Abya Yala, who are fighting for greater autonomy and identity construction in contexts of invisibility, as well as demanding ancestral territorial rights in both urban and rural areas. Although some disciplines within the social sciences have been accompanying these processes, in Argentina they have not been central concerns for geography, although there is a growing body of research being developed in an isolated but sustained manner.
