Synopsis

This book brings together reworkings of the presentations given by some of the guests at the symposium “La Gringa de Santa Fé: Sociocultural Explorations of Soledad Pastorutti and the Evolution of Her Figure in Popular Culture.” The project emerged from the intersection of personal experiences, research interests, and teaching practices, along with a collective commitment—maintained over the years—to create spaces that enable the horizontal sharing and circulation of knowledge. “La Gringa de Santa Fe” was, therefore, the banquet we organized and to which we invited “specialists” with diverse interests, to honor, celebrate, challenge, and interrogate Sole—and to do so together with her. Both in the Symposium and in this publication, which seeks to expand upon it, the proposal to analytically address the figure of Soledad Pastorutti refers not only to a particular artistic trajectory but also to considering the artist as a privileged prism through which to observe cultural processes of relevance and significance for understanding contemporary social experiences. For authors and readers alike, the invitation contained in this book is to think from and through Sole.
