The academic field has not sufficiently problematized teaching as a philosophical issue; nor has it recovered the work that teachers undertake in different territories, or the knowledge that is communicated, transmitted, and exchanged there.
Teaching is often debated from two opposing perspectives: an instrumental view that does not explore the subjects involved or the situational nature of practices, and another that examines the “experience” of philosophizing. In the ways of relating philosophy and childhood, these approaches are expressed in the dichotomy between ‘for’ and “with” children.
However, in recent times there have been experiences that attempt to reconcile both options. This e-book advocates for this alternative: the book focuses on childhood, political participation, the knowledge produced between the adult and child worlds, sexuality, and the search for more fertile links between childhood and philosophy.
Philosophizing with Children: Possible Cartographies between Childhood and Philosophy brings together texts that have been presented at various events or published nationally and internationally on the links between philosophy and childhood. These texts have been reworked, discussed, and rewritten for this edition.
The publication is part of the CIFFyH Collections, an initiative of the María Saleme de Burnichon Research Center (FFyH) in conjunction with the FFyH Publications Department, which seeks to strengthen the production and dissemination of the work of the Center's research groups, encourage the participation of students, graduates, and teachers in the production and circulation of knowledge, and create institutional spaces that enable such circulation.
