Narratives of Memory: Bridges Between Generations
Keywords:
education, pedagogy, memorySynopsis
This publication documents the institutional project “Creating Memories from the ECE,” developed in 2023 by the School of Education Sciences at the National University of Córdoba to commemorate 40 years of uninterrupted democracy in Argentina. In the face of the rise of denialist discourse, the book serves as a political and pedagogical act of resistance against forgetting, promoting cultural transmission and intergenerational dialogue. Through testimonies, records, and reflections from faculty, alumni, and students, the book reconstructs the history of the institution before, during, and after the last civil-military-ecclesiastical dictatorship. The volume is structured in three parts: essays by faculty members dismissed in 1975 (Alfredo Furlán, Gloria Edelstein, and Susana Barco); a roundtable discussion with students from the era of repression; an interview with Gladys Ambroggio on the democratic transition in the 1980s; and an appendix with historical pedagogical texts that survived in hiding. The text pays tribute to the members of the community who were murdered or disappeared, reaffirming the value of historical memory.
